Hale Village, London /
Won in competition, this landmark mixed-use development forms a gateway to Hale Village, an important transport interchange near the Olympic Site.
The concept for the cladding of this 25 storey residential tower is of layered fa?ades with the desire to give the tower a warm and tactile materiality. In order to emphasise the slender and elegant proportions of the tower the main fa?ades are clad in a layered veil. This unwraps to reveal its components giving contrast and identity to various elevations depending on orientation, identity and programme.
The cladding is mainly of a horizontal nature with exaggerated horizontal slab edges, this again encourages the thin tower form.
The tower provides 180 interesting apartments and is linked by an atrium to a 120 key hotel.
