Providing a creative public realm strategy and clear sustainable approach was key to this competition for English Partnerships.
This joint submission by Tesco and Bellway Homes employed various sustainable initiatives including CHP, wind utilisation and passive solar collection. The massing and layout was configured to work with the environmental agenda but also to create an accessible public realm. The plan addresses major routes, axes and vistas through the site, whilst the strategy looks beyond the site boundary, to future development, within a wider masterplan.
