Robin is passionate about design, the process and people who create buildings. “Don’t pick up the pen first. Understand the context and sensibilities of the site and your clients brief before you do anything else.” His approach is inclusive and engaging, using a variety of media to make design transparent and enjoyable. He has a strong affinity for materials, their application and attention to detail, with extensive experience in the design and delivery of sustainable buildings and masterplans.
He studied architecture at Liverpool University before joining Foster Associates in 1984, made a director of the practice in 1992, he was responsible for a broad range of buildings including The American Air Museum, Duxford, 30 St Mary Axe, London (the Gherkin); and the SECC Conference Centre, Glasgow (The Armadillo).
He joined Hamiltons as a director in 2001 where he has been instrumental in re-positioning the practice, with a broad range of projects including Park House, Oxford Street and a private house in the Chiltern Hills.
